For the last year and a half we have always had a way to direct people towards the film in one way or another. On most occasions we would tell them about the film, get the interest going and then direct them towards the main website which has always been SERIALTHEFILM.COM. Ever since we opened the domain we have basically been using it as a front page to direct our viewers towards the main SERIAL blog. While that has always worked as way to get people pointed in the right direction it always leaves a large amount of confusion for people looking for information connected to the feature itself. Starting October 13th we will be directing our viewers towards GIRLSNIGHTOUTFILM.COM and a new website we are currently designing for my and Jim Bett Jr.’s production company titled Black Eye Entertainment.
My theory is simply this…
When advertising a product confusion can act like a virus. It can turn people’s interest and attention away from what you are trying to promote due to lack of proper information. So instead of sending them towards a website on what could be taken as false pretenses we will be sending them to websites showing projects we have plans to deliver with established financing. Girls Night Out for example is a financed film that we currently have in pre-production which we plan to deliver this year where the SERIAL feature is still just a script that we intend to turn into a serious product once funding is established. All of our promotional products will be tagged with the GIRLSNIGHTOUTFILM.COM address along with everything that we will be using for online advertising so that way people get the right idea about what we are trying to do. We will have three stand alone sites…
1.) GIRLSNIGHTOUTFILM.COM – This site will serve as a source of information for our upcoming SERIAL short film titled Girls Night Out. Of course, since this is a continuation of the very first SERIAL film we will have links on the site guiding people towards another page where they can view information and purchase copies of Amoral Uprising. The current page we have up now has a link to the SERIAL blog, Girls Night Out facebook page and a link to a press article about the film written by Mitchell Wells of Horrorsociety.com.
http://www.girlsnightoutfilm.com
2.) WHOISTRENTONBRACKS.COM – This will be a stand alone site for our story’s prologue and initial first film of the SERIAL series titled Amoral Uprising. You can find a large amount of press, reviews, production images and other information about the film on the official SERIAL blog located at www.serialthefilm.com/wordpress. By using the WHOISTRENTONBRACKS website people will be able to purchase the film, read reviews other have posted, view the cast, download the press kit, view production images, read the film’s synopsis and more. This website is currently under construction and will be posted sometime in November.
3.) BLACKEYEFILMS.COM – The stand alone website for Black Eye Entertainment. This is the website that will be taking the main spot of SERIALTHEFILM.COM. Since we are going to be using a production company to produce and distribute our films on an independent level the only real way to get that done is with a stand alone website. We are going to be offering discount production services, practical special effects and a wide variety of stock footage and distribution services with both product replication and duplication. By using resources we will have provided on this site people will be able to make product purchases, read about our various productions and visit their individual websites. Not only that but we will also be offering on set production assistance for Midwest filmmakers looking to hire a crew on a limited budget. In other words we are going to be opening a full scale video production company to not only serve ourselves but also help others who don’t have a lot to spend. This website is currently under construction and will be posted sometime in November.
So as you can see we are going to be making a lot of changes over the next few months in order to do what we set out to do from the beginning. Just keep in mind that as of October 13th we will no longer be found at SERIALTHEFILM.COM. There will be two main locations you will be able to go for all things SERIAL related. Check below for the links.

James Bett Jr. – Special Effects Artist & Producer
Jim Bett Jr. has been a rabid horror fan as long as he can remember. As a special effects makeup designer, Jim has worked on many independent film projects in the Chicago-Milwaukee markets such as “Peek A Boo,” “SERIAL: Amoral Uprising,” and “The Spade County Massacre.” He also has provided special effects makeup and co-directed music videos for such acts as 2-West and R.A. the Rugged Man. About a week ago I made an update to the blog regarding a press release for the next SERIAL installment titled Girls Night Out. Since then we have had a large amount of positive feedback result from that press release by an assortment of different websites and blogs. This kind of served as an awakening of sorts for myself in comparison to how things started out close to two years ago with the pre-production of our last film, Amoral Uprising. It just goes to show that experience and positive communication can prove to be very powerful tools in the world of independent film. You can find the current press we have going for the film with the links provided below.

Based five years after the tragic events of SERIAL: Amoral Uprising, Girls Night Out is a continuation of the fictional life profile of a manipulative sociopath and serial killer named Trenton Wade Bracks. Highly influenced by the disturbing true case files of former death row convicts and notorious serial murderers Ted Bundy and Henry Lee Lucas, Girls Night Out tells the horrific story of two unsuspecting sorority sisters from the University of Memphis that happen to cross Trenton’s path while spending time at the local bar during a “girls night out”.
Below you will find the featured cast for SERIAL: Girls Night Out. Since the film is planned to begin principal photography sometime in late 2010, more people will be added to the cast as things progress with pre-production of the film. SERIAL: Girls Night Out is an independent Midwest based production that will be produced by Black Eye Entertainment and Mitchell Wells of Horrorsociety.com.
Christopher Howell as Trenton Wade Bracks
Christopher Howell attended Southern Illinois University where he studied biological sciences with aspirations of one day becoming a medical doctor. During his undergraduate years he held several jobs to help cover tuition costs that included modeling and acting. Post graduation, Christopher turned his sights towards acting. His first taste of on-camera action came with the production of an independent crime film titled SERIAL: Amoral Uprising, where he played the lead role of a southern based serial killer named Trenton Wade Bracks.

Immediately finding his passion in front of the camera, he began honing his acting skill. Since then he has been featured in several film projects carefully choosing his roles to broaden his craft. Other works featuring Christopher Howell include titles such as The Door, Home in the Heartland and the 10 minute SERIAL Promo piece made by the same writer & director of SERIAL: Amoral Uprising. Christopher’s next step is to transition towards Los Angeles, California sometime in 2010 to pursue his acting career. Chris has informed us that he is currently in the process of creating a personal website that should be up sometime later this year.
Deneen Melody as Kendra Reid
While she is one of the newest Scream Queens, Deneen Melody is more than just a horror darling. The youngest of 8 children and a Native Texan, Deneen originally started off as a ballerina, training and performing with various companies in the Houston area. Unfortunately, after many years of dancing, Deneen suffered a foot injury that caused her to step back from the ballet world. However, it wasn’t long until she found her true calling in the world of independent film where she was able to achieve a fair amount of success that continues to serve as the source of her inspiration and career motivation.
Deneen Melody & Debbie Cardone in “As Night Falls”
Since starting her acting career, Deneen has worked with several professional filmmakers, photographers, and makeup artists in and around the Chicago area. Apart from acting, Deneen has experience in fight combat and does stunt classes in her spare time on top of being an experienced model who currently models for comics through Comic Book Divas. Some of the active titles Deneen has been featured in include Distortion, Slices of Life, As Night Falls and Don’t Look In The Basement which is currently in pre-production with a planned release of 2011. Deneen will be also be featured in the new Master’s Devils comic book as well, reprising her role as Devlynn Envy from the film. If you would like to know more about Deneen’s career please feel free to visit her official IMDB page.
Colleen Elizabeth Miller as Sarah Caide
Colleen Elizabeth Miller has been an avid student of theatre, music, and dance since the early age of nine. Colleen’s first acting role was in junior high, where she played Witch Hex in the Grimm’s Brothers version of Snow White. Upon graduating from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Acting & Fine Arts, Colleen moved to Chicago to pursue her acting career. Some of her professional theatre roles include Tricia in Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, Donnie Mashburn in Offsprung, Olive Madison in The Odd Couple: Female Version, Titania/Hypolita in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ms. Applerose in Scrooge Unglued, Chrysta Koch in Determination, and a Zombette in the musical Zombies from the Beyond.

As much as she loved performing theater arts, she quickly discovered her true passion with independent film. Colleen’s filmography includes Howling Moon, Paranormal Calamity, Dr. Spine, Reality Star, Baby Alligators, Necravin, The Borderline, One Way, Foreign English, Tea Party, Going To Pieces, and At Sunset. She is also featured in three episodes of the Welcome to Dreadville Series II & III: Are You Rei?, Red in Dreadville, and The Dark of Night. Kelsey Zukowski as Crystal Wright
Kelsey Zukowski has an extensive background in film and a true undying love for the horror genre. She did a lot of theater work when she was younger, including consecutive productions in inner-city Cleveland as part of a program to enrich the community. In high school her love of film transitioned her in to writing movie reviews and eventually writing screenplays to further improve her writing and overall conception of independent film. She now writes movie reviews for HorrorYearbook.com, HorrorMovieFans.com, FilmArcade.net, 2Snaps.tv, and TCWReviews.com.

Kelsey has a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Cinema and a concentration in Screenwriting from DePaul University; exclusively writing horror scripts that speak to social themes or question what true terror really entails and has managed to turn many of her shorter scripts into short films. Kelsey is a big believer in the horror genre with all that it is capable of creatively infusing and is looking forward to making her return to acting this summer when she becomes the newest addition to the cast of SERIAL: Girls Night Out, an independent film being directed by K.M. Jamison and produced by Black Eye Entertainment.
Kaylee Williams as Deanna Shaw
Born and raised in suburban Chicago, IL, Kaylee Williams was first introduced to the world of acting in high school when a friend suggested she try out for the school play. She moved from theater to the world of film when she auditioned for her first independent film, landed the lead role, and was hooked. She has been acting ever since. Given the opportunity to do her own stunts in her films, stunt work quickly became an avid interest as well. Kaylee currently works with a professional stunt group in Chicago, specializing in combat.

Kaylee has worked with a number of photographers and indie filmmakers in the Chicagoland area. She has appeared in over 30 films in the past five years and has worked with more than 20 photographers in the past three years. SERIAL: Girls Night Out is an independent short film written and directed by K.M. Jamison that profiles an account of the life and crimes of a fictional highway serial killer and sociopath named Trenton Wade Bracks. Greatly inspired by films such as Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Maniac, Kalifornia and the works of legendary true crime author Ann Rule; Girls Night Out is the second installment a part of K.M. Jamison’s SERIAL series which will act as a continuation of his prior film titled SERIAL: Amoral Uprising.

In Amoral Uprising the creator, writer and director K.M. Jamison introduces us to his fictional character Trenton Wade Bracks and his nihilistic world by giving us an indication of how and when things started to go wrong. SERIAL: Amoral Uprising is a 58 minute showcase film that will begin to guide us though the progression and development of Trenton’s life one step at a time, similar to a televised biography of an American criminal. Since it’s premiere at the Summer Slaughter film festival hosted by Mitchell Wells of Horrorsociety.com, SERIAL: Amoral Uprising has managed to attract a large amount of positive attention from industry based websites such as Horror-News.net, Dead Pit Radio, Windy City Horror, Dread Central and Bloody-Disgusting.com. SERIAL: Girls Night Out will serve as a way to keep development of the story moving until financial aid is established for production of a feature film based on the life and crimes of Trenton Wade Bracks. In order to achieve a global exposure for Girls Night Out and commercial the possibility of a feature film, K.M. Jamison and SPFX artist James Bett’s production company (Black Eye Entertainment) along with co-producer Mitchell Wells will be showcasing the product through means of independent film festivals, magazines, fan based conventions and online marketing until distribution of the film is established. SERIAL: Girls Night Out will also be available for purchase through the film’s website once post production of the DVD product is complete.

In light of how things have been happening with promotion of the film as of late, I decided to create a new design for a t-shirt that will be available for purchase on the stand alone website for SERIAL: Amoral Uprising. The shirts will be available in two versions. One version being the regular clean white WANTED poster that will be applied to a black shirt. The second choice is a design simply named “Distressed”, which will be identical to the image sample provided below.

To see a larger sample just click on the image of the shirt. The shirts are made from 100% high quality cotton with sizes available in small, medium, large and extra large. Custom orders are available to customers who request them (style variations, colors, different sizes). I will be posting a sample of the clean design in the next few days so people have a chance to view both designs before having a chance to decide on a final purchase.

After sending a few dozen more screeners out for review this weekend I had a chance to sit back and analyze the current state of the SERIAL project. Sure, in the three years we have been working to reach the goal of producing a feature film we have made great strides with both success and productivity but the biggest problem we had was lacking a major tool for any type of product promotion.
A basic press kit.
With any type of business that requires support from resources outside of the main circle of production heads, a press kit must be put together in order to show those people exactly what the individual product has to offer. So over the last month or so I have been going over everything we have done with the project (a span of three years) resulting with a 33 page document that will be used for the standard press kit. Filled with background information on both SERIAL: Amoral Uprising and the SERIAL feature, investment and marketing plans for the future of the project, preliminary cast lists and more. The press kit will feature the following…
- (1) copy of SERIAL: Amoral Uprising DVD (prototype product)
- SERIAL Press Kit pdf file
- Production images
- Video
- Promotional materials
- Behind the scenes images
For investors or other people interested in getting involved with the film financially, a custom press kit will be sent out that will include the following.
- (1) copy of SERIAL: Amoral Uprising DVD (prototype product)
- SERIAL Press Kit pdf file
- Production images
- Video
- Promotional materials
- Behind the scenes images
- (1) SERIAL: Amoral Uprising ONE SHEET Poster
- (1) Trenton Bracks WANTED Poster
- (1) High Quality Screen Shot Package (7 images total)
- SERIAL: Amoral Uprising promotional postcards
With this press kit we will be able to enter the film into a variety of film festivals all over the world. I will be posting all of the festival dates as they are booked so people can have a chance to see the film while we finalize product distribution of the film.
